The word “Islam“ means “submission to God”, The word “muslim“ means “one who submits to God “.
"Islam’’ is an Arabic word that means submitting one’s will to the will of God. It is a monotheistic religion centered on the belief in one supreme Creator of the universe. Muslims believe that Islam is the true religion revealed by God to humanity. It is a universal faith, accessible to anyone, regardless of time or place. At its core, Islam emphasizes complete submission to God.
As a comprehensive way of life, Islam addresses every aspect of human existence. It provides guidance on individual, social, moral, ethical, legal, cultural, political, economic, and global matters, leaving no aspect of life unaddressed.
Who is Muslim?
A Muslim is someone who submits their will to the one true God, known as “Allah” (God), the only being worthy of worship. A Muslim also acknowledges Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the final messenger of God. Through submission and worship of Allah, a Muslim finds peace by adhering to His commandments, as peace naturally follows surrendering to Allah’s will.
To embrace Islam and become a Muslim, one must sincerely declare and believe in the following statement:
أشهدُ أنْ لا إلهَ إلاَّ اللهُ وأشهدُ أنَّ محمّداً رسولُ اللهِ ﷺ
(Ash-hadu alla ilaha illallah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadar-Rasulullah)
This phrase translates literally to, "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger." It also conveys the meaning, "None is worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger." By uttering this declaration with sincerity and living in accordance with its principles, a person embraces Islam and becomes a Muslim.
Muslims believe that Allah(God) has no partners in divinity, no offspring, and nothing in the universe is comparable to Him. They hold that Allah (God)is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and that He created humanity for a single purpose: to worship Him alone.
Worshiping anything other than Allah(God) is regarded as a serious sin. The reward for worshiping Him exclusively and adhering to His guidance is a life of goodness in this world and eternal Paradise in the hereafter.
God Says In Koran : He is Allah, (the) One; Allah, the Eternal; He did not beget (give birth) and He was not begotten (given birth to); And there has never been anyone equal to Him. Qu'ran, Chapter 112, Verses 1 - 4
Islam teaches that human beings are unique among God’s creation, possessing the ability to think freely and choose their actions. To guide humanity, Allah sends Prophets and Messengers with scriptures to convey His true message.
What is the Quran(Koran)
Muslims believe that many scriptures were revealed to humanity in the past, including the Torah given to Moses, the Psalms given to David, and the Gospel given to Jesus Christ (peace be upon them all).
The Holy Qur’an(Koran) is considered the final revelation from Allah, sent to all of humanity through His last messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The Holy Qur’an, consisting of 114 chapters, was revealed over 1,400 years ago to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims believe it is the verbatim word of Allah, preserved in its original form without any alteration, editing, or changes. The Qur’an we have today is the same as that revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him). It addresses major themes of life, including piety, worship, belief, morals, good deeds, sins, death, the afterlife, and much more.
In addition to its spiritual and moral teachings, the Qur’an contains verses that align with scientific discoveries made centuries after its revelation. It describes phenomena in physics, biology, and astronomy, such as the creation of the universe from a singularity (often compared to the Big Bang), the development of the human embryo, and the expanding nature of the universe—all concepts that modern science confirmed long after the Qur’an was revealed.
Remarkably, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known to be illiterate; he neither read nor wrote. This makes the Qur’an's depth of knowledge, eloquence, and precision a point of amazement and a source of faith for Muslims. They view this as clear evidence that the Qur’an could not have been authored by Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself but is indeed a divine revelation from Allah.
Muslims view Islam not as a new religion, but as the continuation and completion of the divine message delivered by previous Prophets from Adam to Mohamed PBUTH.
